Helping Our Charity Partners One Lug at a Time

As we continue to acquire more furniture and basic household items it has been very important to us here at The Junkluggers of Chicago NW Suburbs to find places for these items to go where they will gain a meaningful second life.

That’s where Helping Hands & Caring Hearts has come in. Started by Mike Lyp in 2019, after volunteering with the homeless during the Polar Vortex of 2018, he aimed to aid those in need within his own community. Helping Hands and Caring Hearts operates solely on volunteers and donations to provide essentials to those within the community in need- including veterans, homeless, and families and individuals recently housed.

In addition to putting in countless hours daily, HHCH’s volunteers run a soup kitchen every second and fourth Sunday of the month at Holy Trinity Church in Elgin, feeding approximately 50 displaced community members. In addition to the soup kitchen, they also partner with local food panties, TLS veterans, VFW’s and other organizations for fundraising, item drives, and free lunches.

We are so excited to be working with HHCH to help their organization furnish newly acquired living arrangements and donate any living essentials we can, like towels, blankets and linens, clothing, shoes, housewares, and whatever else they may be in need of.
